Sandy Pensler is 61 years old. He was born and raised on the west side of Detroit. He traveled to Grosse Pointe to attend the Liggett High School, where he graduated as the best student. Sandy worked at Yale University, where in just four years she earned a B.A. in Chemical Engineering, a B.A. in Economics and a M.A. in Economics, receiving high honors in all grades. After graduation, he founded his first business importing sweaters. In a few years he sold the business to help pay for law school. He received his Juris Doctorate, with honors, from Harvard in 1982.
An educator …
While working as a financial advisor, Sandy was also a member of Yale's economics faculty, where she developed and taught several courses. He also taught undergraduate economics courses while at Harvard.
An entrepreneur …
After earning his law degree from Harvard, he served as a clerk in the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit for Judge Patrick Higginbotham. Then, Sandy entered the business world where he became a private investor and financial advisor to some of the largest corporations in the United States, including: Chrysler, Sprint, Scholastic, Time Warner, TJX, General Electric and Navistar / International Harvester . As a financial advisor, Sandy worked to restructure and grow the companies to put them in safe financial conditions for the future.
Sandy Pensler implemented his teachings and experience in founding Pensler Capital, initiating numerous businesses and currently owning and operating four manufacturing plants, including the Korex Corporation plant in Wixom, which offers more than 100 jobs to Michigan workers. The Wixom plant was losing millions and was scheduled for closure when Sandy took control. Rebuilt the Wixom plant, saved the jobs and designed a successful change. Its Chicago plant was scheduled for closure when its owners Church and Dwight, owners of Arm and Hammer and Oxyclean, turned to it to buy the plant and turn it over. Sandy successfully put that company back on its feet. All current Korex companies are profitable, debt free and growing under Sandy's leadership.
Sandy currently lives in Grosse Pointe with his wife Anita, his son Jonathan (in college) and his daughter Natasha (in middle school).
